Get to know us

Original Clay Grants is a Native-led nonprofit working to break barriers in philanthropy and shift resources toward communities of color. We believe that the organizations closest to systemic injustice are the ones best equipped to lead change, yet they are often excluded from funding opportunities. Our mission is to change that reality by helping Native and BIPOC-led nonprofits secure funding, build capacity, and amplify their voices.

We are rooted in culture, justice, and the understanding that philanthropy must move beyond charity and toward equity. Our team combines lived experience, deep community relationships, and technical expertise in grant writing and nonprofit strategy to deliver solutions that honor sovereignty, resilience, and cultural knowledge.

At Original Clay, we see every proposal as a story of strength. By helping organizations tell those stories with power and clarity, we work to shift philanthropic systems, strengthen grassroots movements, and ensure that leaders on the front lines of justice have the tools to thrive for generations.

FAQ

Every contribution, no matter the size, fuels our mission to break funding barriers for Native and BIPOC-led nonprofits. A gift of $25 can provide grant research tools for a grassroots leader, $100 can support a strategy session with a community-based organization, and $500 or more helps us subsidize full grant writing services for nonprofits that need it most. Your donation is an investment in equity, justice, and long-term

Supporting Original Clay Grants is simple and impactful. You can make a one-time or recurring gift through our secure online donation form, or mail a check to our office. We also welcome workplace giving, matching gifts, and sponsorship partnerships. Every contribution directly funds grant writing support, training, and capacity-building for Native and BIPOC-led nonprofits working on the front lines of justice and cultural resilience.

We are from all over the West Coast: Seattle, Portland, Northern California, and Southern California. Our family’s tribal roots come from the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. While we are deeply connected to these places, our work extends nationwide, supporting BIPOC-led nonprofits and grassroots leaders across the country.
